UK censorship guide: Season 9
Current cuts:
Since the 9/11 tragedy, this episode has been heavily edited by Sky One to
remove all possible references to the twin towers in a move we find utterly
disrespectful to those who lost their lives. We hope they will have the
sense to restore the footage soon instead of trying to block history from
everyone's minds.

After the flashback
Homer: And that's when the chuds came at me.
Marge: Oh Homer, of course you'll have a bad impression of New York
if you only focus on the pimps and the chuds.
Lisa: Oh, I'd love to see New York.

The pan down from the shot of the World
Trade Center was removed; instead, we jump to the zoom onto
Homer's car

Homer tries to take the clamp off the
car
The establishing shot of this scene removes
the pan down from the World Trade Center, resulting in a messy
audio cue.
(Homer attempts to take the clamp off by hand,
and then by teeth when he has no success...)
Guy in Tower 1: Hey when you're done
with that, I've got something up here you can bite off!
Guy in Tower 2: Hey why don't you be polite you stinking
puss bag?! (to Homer) Pal, you gotta call the
number on the boot. Sorry about that guy, they
stick all the jerks in Tower One.
Guy in Tower 1: That's it! I'm coming over there!
(they yell at each other until a third guy - in a higher
floor in tower one - has a voice which is louder than both)
Other Guy: SHUT UP THE BOTH OF YA'S!!! |

Homer tries to take the clamp off the
car
(Homer attempts to take the clamp off by hand,

Guy in Tower 1: Hey when you're done with that, I've got something

When Homer finally relieves
himself...
Homer's big sigh of relief after getting to
the bathroom is cut due to it featuring another shot of the
tower.

Start of the episode
(The episode opens at Springfield Civic Center. A
workman is putting up a sign reading: "Today: Bachelor
Auction; Tomorrow: I Retire Ya Bastards!". Just afterwards,
the man falls off his ladder. Cut to inside.)

During the U2 concert
The Edge: Oh, here we go. Wanna slip out to
Moe's for a quick pint?
Adam: Hey can I come?
The Edge: No.
Adam: Wankers.

During the end credits sequence
Adam: Look, fellows, I got a Springfield
spoon for my spoon collection.
The Edge: Oh, here we go.
Bono: How many spoons have you got now Adam?
Adam: Nine. If I didn't have my spoons, I'd go insane.
Bono: Can I see it?
(Adam hands Bono the spoon, Bono throws it away and it hits
Mr. Burns.)
Mr. Burns: Ow! Wankers.
On the BBC's airing, "wankers"
was dubbed with a second "ow"

Bart: We're watching the TV.
TV Announcer: Man has always loved his
buildings, but what about when the buildings say "no
more".
(On TV there is a montage of buildings collapsing as Homer
and Bart cheer.)
Bart: The best part was when the building collapsed.
Lisa: (faking interest) Yeah, maybe some people got hurt.
Homer: Hey, yeah. (laughs)
TV Announcer: And now, and editorial response.
Homer: Boring!
(Homer changes channel)
