Well, first of all, let me say this, in one of the episodes, they actually showed you this. That's right, in "The Last Temptation of Homer," Homer asks Colonel Klink what his life would be like if he left Marge and married Mindie. Well, let me say this, Homer shoulda done it. He lived in a gigantic house with a tennis court, while Marge became president! But Homer also almost cheated with a one Lurleen Lumpkin, which is who I'm going to pretend Homer left Marge for.
I personally think that this would be a very happy marriage because Lurleen seemed to be truly in love with Homer. I'm not sure that Homer would be like this. I say that because although I could tell Homer liked Lurleen, he truly loves Marge, and that's what counts. Another reason why Homer wouldn't be as happy as he would with Marge: Lurleen apparently had an addiction, because in one episode she's talks to Kent Brockman for a second, and reveals she was in rehab, and that she spent last night in a ditch.
I think that the kids would have mixed feelings about it, because at times the kids seem to hate Homer, and others they seem to love him. Marge, I assume, would soon remarry, maybe even Jacques, the charismatic bowler who Marge was infatuated with early in the show.
Bottom line: The show as we know it would be very different. Homer and Marge wouldn't be together, the family would be broken up... All of the characters would be drastically different.
